Abstract

The liftbody-type buoyancy-lifting hybrid airships with high lift-drag ratio hulls can be used as heavy weight transportation under complicated geographic conditions. So the lift of hybrid airships, which is provided by static buoyancy and aerodynamic lift, can be changed by changing the velocity and angle of attack. The vector propulsion system can jointly enhance controllability of hybrid airships. The air-cushion landing system (ACLS) can effectively simplify the support system. An effective integration of these systems put forward higher requirements for the overall design. The general design of hybrid airships is illustrated by considering weight balance and thrust-drag balance. The analysis of the effects of parameters such as the ratio of buoyancy to weight and the cruise velocity etc. on the overall performance is made and the aerodynamic performance, the overall flight performance and the economic performance are studied at the same time. The conclusions are expected to lay a foundation for the research of detailed system design and effective control methods in the future.
