Abstract

Based on the Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) architecture, Storage Management Initiative-Specification (SMI-S) provides a uniform way to integrate storage devices with storage management applications. We introduce its application in storage management to design and implement a SMI-S provider for a mode of disk array - Sun StorEdge 3510. The Provider enables the discovery of the device, acts as a repository for information about the disk array, communicates events and performs status monitoring, and enables interoperable configuration and control. The required sub-profiles of the 'Array' profile defined in the SMI-S 1.0.2 is implemented by our provider, which has successfully passed the conformance test.
