Design and application of new avionics control bus upon SPI

Abstract

Traditional avionics control bus is neither portable nor scalable. The quantity of electronic devices in aircraft is expanding at an exponential rate. How to connect those devices together by a light, fast, scalable bus is a very urgent task. In this paper, we propose a new design and an application of new avionics control bus which combines the advantages of the SPI and FPGA IP-Core. Firstly, the overall structure of this new avionics control bus is put forward. Secondly, some key design points are discussed. Thirdly, the IP-Core examples are present. Finally, the experiment results show that this new avionics control bus is very suitable for aircraft systems which re-quire highly reliability, flexible configurations and compact size.
