Current status and improvement of the legal system of electricity in China

Abstract

Since the Electricity Law, which is the basic law of electricity in China, entered into force from 1996, the electricity industry in China has embarked on its legalization, and the legal system of electricity in China has almost been formed after the development of almost 20 years. However, with the development of market economy and the deepening of the reform concerning the legal system of electricity, various problems that has been existing in the legal system of electricity in China become increasingly prominent which are in urgent needs to be resolved. This article reviews the current status of the legal system of electricity in China, analyzes its major problems and on the basis of which proposes legal countermeasures or suggestions for developing a sound legal system, namely building the ideology of the rule of law, confirming the legal concept of sustainable development and scientifically construct the framework and content of the legal system of electricity.
