Abstract

Joint estimation of DOA and polarization of non-Gaussian narrow-band signal with a polarization sensitive (PS) array, which includes a spatially and sparsely stretched tripole sub-array along with two guiding sensors, is addressed in this paper. The rest of this PS array may have arbitrary and possibly unknown response and geometry. Trivial ambiguity involved in the 3-D polarization-angular coherence structure (PACS) is investigated and 2-D DOAs and polarizations are further obtained by associating the PACS and the spatial coherence structure simultaneously recovered from a parallel cumulative ESPRIT step. Two issues on effect of phase wrapping and optional inherent structure of the spatially stretched tripole are also included.
