Collapse effect of concrete under internal explosion of shelled charge

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

To evaluate the damage ability of conventional warhead to buried hardened targets, the dimensionless relation among the critical collapse parameters and the parameters of charge structure, shell structure and concrete target structure is obtained based on dimensional analysis theory. Six internal explosion tests with different shell structures are performed, and the critical collapse charge quantities of different shell structures are acquired. The result indicates that, as the residual thickness of target and shell structures are invariant, the extent of collapse damage of concrete target becomes more serious with the increase in length-to-diameter ratio of charge. The length-to-diameter ratio of charge increases with the increase in the ratio of shell thickness to charge diameter and the ratio of shell head length to charge diameter.
