Abstract

A coherent solid-state laser radar system is described. The system consists of an injection locked Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with high repetition frequency as ladar transmitter, two reflecting mirrors to steer the laser beam horizontally and vertically, transmission and receiving telescopes, a monolithic single frequency ring laser as local oscillator, controlling and displaying units. Ranging images are obtained with 64 × 64 resolution and refreshing time of 8 seconds. The velocity of the moving object is resolved by measuring the Doppler shift of the reflected light with respect to the local oscillation. The maximum error of the velocity measurement is 6%.
