Abstract

This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the coherent control of terahertz pulses polarization with a pair of temporally separated and orthogonally polarized laser pump pulses with the same central frequency. It is found that for a (110)-oriented ZnTe crystal, the single-cycle terahertz pulse can be controlled from linear polarization to elliptical polarization with different trajectories by varying the relative time delay between the incident pump pulses. Moreover, the reasons of the discrepancy between the theoretical description and the former experimental results are discussed also.
