Abstract
The voltage jump of rectifier source during commutation and sparking discharge between the brushes and the rotating components are the main noise from the exciter of synchronous machines. Based on experiments the characteristic of these two kinds of noise source and the transfer functions of their transmission channels from the noise source to the site of PD detection were presented in this paper. The influences of these two noises upon on-line PD monitoring for stator windings were analyzed.
