Abstract
Coating technology with ceramics can effectively improve the oxidation resistance and ablation resistance of carbon/carbon(C/C) composites in extreme environments. Ceramic coatings are able to isolate ultra-high,temperature, high erosion and oxygen situation from the carbon/carbon matrix, and thus extend the service life of C/C composites. Coating technology is simple, short time-consuming, low preparation cost, and gives the matrix oxidation resistance and ablation resistance without affecting the high-temperature mechanical properties of the matrix. It greatly promotes the application of C/C composites in the aerospace field. This paper first summarizes current coating systems from the perspective of structure and composition, and then reviews the latest research progress in ceramic coatings based on their chemical composition characteristics, analyzing a variety of nanostructure-enhanced coating strategies, and finally looks forward to the new challenges and trends of surface coating technology.
