abstract = "Various liver tissue engineering approaches are currently under development in applications ranging from artificial liver organ transplantation to cell-based therapies. Most of them rely on the ability to encapsulate hepatocytes in three-dimensional (3D) scaffolds. Alginate cell-containing hydrogel has shown great potentials for the application of stem cell study, drug release, 3D cell culture and in vitro mimic of tissue structures or organs. We proposed a novel approach to fabricate the Ca-alginate gel sheet embedded liver cells to mimic the liver lobule tissue. Ca-alginate sheet with hepatic lobule shaped pattern was firstly deposited on a micro-electrode device based on the electrodeposition method.",
