Abstract

Fractures play important role in oil exploration and production. If we assume fractured shale reservoirs as simpler models, such as transverse isotropy, are often insufficient and misleading. In this paper, we develop a new method to predict fracture intensity for the orthorhombic anisotropy media. We separate the linearized reflection coefficient expression of OA media into different parts considering whether they are influenced by azimuth and investigate a sensitive one about the fracture intensity from them. Then the sensitive attribute Bani is inverted by P-wave amplitude variation with incident angle and azimuth data. Finally, the application result on a gas shale reservoir testifies the method is reasonably and shows its advantage.
