Abstract

Spin states are crucial physical parameters of asteroids. Ground-based radar observations serve as a significant technique for determining asteroid spin information. This review provides a succinct overview of three principal signal processing methods utilized in radar astronomy for spin state determination: Doppler broadening, SHAPE and radar speckle tracking. Key research findings in this domain are summarized. Additionally, we compare these radar-based methods with alternative techniques for spin measurement, evaluating their respective strengths and limitations, and discussing future prospects for their advancement.
