Abstract
Velocity change of granular swarm dispersed by explosion was studied theoretically and experimentally in order to assess particle kinetic characteristics. Aluminum, soap and multi-layer-paper targets were used in the experiment to record the terminal effect of particles, and a high-speed-camera system was applied for the calculation of particle cloud boundary velocity. The kinetic characteristics of the granular swarm were deduced from the target records. The results showed that the multi-layer-paper target record was more suitable to reveal the distribution of particle velocity than that of aluminum target, and it was more convenient to be processed and stored. The multilayer-paper target method was convenient and effective for the assessment on kinetic characteristics of granular swarm dispersed by explosion, and the assessment indexes included particle number density, particle velocity (or specific kinetic energy) and its distribution.
