Abstract

Problems in design and assembly of cable harness and tube in complex product were analyzed, and Virtual Reality (VR) technology was presented as one of the feasible technical approaches to realize the optimal layout and reliable assembly. Advantages of Cable Harness and Tube Assembly Planning (CH and TAP) based on VR technology were expatiated. Then, characteristics and connotation of CH and TAP in virtual environment were analyzed, and the general business process of CH and TAP system in virtual environment was presented. The function model and information stream model were provided to explain the business process. Finally, the architecture of CH and TAP system was put forward. A prototype system instance manifested that the architecture was open and extensible.
