Abstract

Based on the characteristics that the infrared polarization image can highlight the target contour and enhance the detail of the scene, an infrared polarization fusion method based on wavelet packet transform is proposed in this paper. It is found that the contrast degree, information entropy and mutual information of the fusion image based on wavelet packet transform are all higher than that based on commonly used method, and it has the similar expression in the conclusion of subjective evaluation. The results indicate that the wavelet packet transform is an effectively fusing method for infrared polarization images and the proposed method is beneficial to scene perception and target recognition.
