Abstract

In order to attain the dosage of crystal modifier in the preparation of ultrafine 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB), the ultrafine TATB was prepared using ionic surfactant and nonionic surfactant as crystal modifier. The surface tension and critical micelle concentration (CMC) data of the surfactant, which provide theoretical support for the dosage of surfactant, were studied. The X-ray powder diffraction of grained TATB was studied, and the effect of growth facet on the morphology was analyzed. The results show that the surfactant can reduce the strongest diffraction peaks and affect the dominant crystal facet, so they can control the crystal morphology of TATB. Grained ultrafine TATB crystal without any agglomeration can be gained by using appropriate surfactant and dosage.
