Abstract
The electrochemical characteristics of the gel polymer electrolytes (GPE) consisted of crosslinked poly(acrylate) and KOH aqueous solution have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectra and charge-discharge cycle test. As a result, the GPE have high conductivity and good electrochemical stability which are quite near that of 6 mol/L KOH aqueous solution. The batteries with the GPE exhibit a better cycle life than that with KOH aqueous solution only. The SEM study shows the good charge-discharge cycle characteristics was due to the low solubility and swelling degree of active materials in the GPE. So the GPE have a bright future of application in Ni/MH battery.
