Abstract
Based on numerical simulation and correction computation for flexible materials, the aerodynamic characteristics of rigid-parachute stabilized submunition were analyzed.Polyhedron meshes were adopted; finite volume methods and SST turbulence model were applied for calculation. The results show that the drag coefficient of ribbon-parachute submunition is higher than that of rope-parachute submunition in subsonic flows because of shimmy of the ribbons. However, the ribbons resist some parts of reflux under the projectile and lead to a decline of drag coefficient in supersonic flows. The calculation results have a good agreement with experiment data, which shows the rationality and practicability of the present analytical methods.
