Abstract

Dimensional analysis and numerical simulation on the low velocity projectile penetrating the laminated plate composed of two layers of steel panel were carried out. The influence of the interface position on the penetration resistance of the laminated plate was also investigated. When the projectile penetrates the moderate-thickness laminated plate at the low velocity, the penetration resistance of the plate ascends at first and then descends after reaching the peak value. The typical experimental result shows that, under the certain experimental conditions, the penetration resistance of the plate with the 2.0 thickness ratio of the upper panel to the lower one is much better than the plate with the 0.5 thickness ratio.
