Abstract

The archimedes spiral cord modulating chopper was adopted in pyroelectric uncooled focal plane array (FPA) thermal imagery. The chopper exposure efficiency was theoretically analyzed and numerically simulated, and its impact on the following signal processing was obtained. The results show that chopper exposure efficiency directly affects detector pixel exposure time and incident radiation, and also affects the detector pixel effective accumulated charge uniformity with detector signal readout time coordinately. Modulating synchronization locating point should be added in the chopper, which can make thermal imagery be compatible with different exposure efficiency chopper. The effect of the chopper exposure efficiency should be synthetically considered when the whole thermal imaging system and its electronic processing system are designed.
