Abstract

An Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) event analysis algorithm is discussed, which is based on single-edge exponential window of Short Fourier Transform, which is also called Gabor transform. Based on studying the generation of noise in signal model, the algorithm of events detection is simplified. Therefore by processing the Gabor representation of OTDR data using binary signal detection theory, the location of the connection events along the fiber can be detected. The algorithm can improve the ability of remote event detection and increase the speed and efficiency of OTDR event analysis without losing accuracy, which indicates that the algorithm has strong application value.
