Abstract

High power density (HPD) diesel engines are developed for military use, which PL should be up to 100 kW/L. The special design needs higher reliability of the engine. The performance of HPD engine was simulated, and the bearing load was calculated by using the simulation result. Through analyzing the influences of high specific pressure, high rotating speed and high temperature on lubrication performance of connecting rod big end bearing, the key problem needed to be solved in this bearing design was proposed.
