Abstract

The ablation property of aluminum alloy used in diesel engine piston was evaluated through simulating piston working conditions with ablation test equipment. The ablation mechanism and model of aluminum alloy was explored. The results showed that surface temperature presents the most significance on the ablation of aluminum alloy. The ablation effects of erosion angle and gas flow velocity decrease in turn. The ablation mechanism of aluminum alloy is the combination of melting ablation and gas flow erosion. A simulation of the ablation process of aluminum alloy was carried out and results were compared with experimental data. The comparison showed that the calculated results matched well with the experiment data in ablation rate.
