Abstract

A fast analysis method for the Narcissus effect based on pseudoparaxial ray-tracing was proposed. The definitions and tracing formulae for the pseudo-paraxial rays were given. The Narcissus-induced temperature reduction for the axial point and the Narcissus-induced temperature variation over the field can be calculated. Different methods for reducing the Narcissus effect during automatic design of the optical system were discussed. All the analyses and controls have been implemented in the GOSA (General Optical System Analysis and optimization) program developed by Beijing Institute of Technology.
