Abstract

A novel ultra-wideband, monocycle ultra-short-pulse transmitter was developed based on closed microstrip line, step-recovery and Schottky diode. The key elements in the circuit were discussed and the circuit was simulated with EDA software. The result shows that the strongest stimulating current and the appropriate inductance should be chosen. The transmitter generating monocycle pulses have the width of 400ps and the peak-to-peak amplitude of 900mV. The monocycle pulse can be widely used in UWB communication and UWB radar systems.
