Abstract
Lead halide perovskites and rare earth have been both verified fascinating optoelectronic materials due to their own unique physicochemical properties, respectively. Particularly, the photovoltaic and light emitting devices based on the former have been advanced to approach commercialization. The coupling of lead halide perovskites with rare earth may be a decisive approach for their further development. This review presents a comprehensive discussion with regard to the coupling of lead halide perovskites and rare earth. The coupling enables a series of graceful manipulation of lead halide perovskite, including crystal structure, carrier recombination dynamics and optical properties. In addition, we systematically discussed the practical application of rare earth in perovskite based photovoltaics and light emitting devices, which provide a leading direction for the future development of high efficiency and stable perovskite optoelectronic devices.
