Abstract

An intelligent monitoring system for underground oil pipeline anticorrosive layers, which includes the design of both hardware and software, is developed based on the electromagnetism principle and an appropriate instrument design. The monitoring system is comprised of the signal transmitter, signal receiver and central processing unit. The monitoring system can determine the location of a break in the underground pipeline anticorrosive layer or even an oil leak and can issue an alarm when a break in the anticorrosive layer is detected. The proposed method is not only useful for detecting whether the pipeline is leaking. It is also useful to confirm whether the anticorrosive layer has breaks in it. In this way, incipient trouble can be resolved before it develops.
