Abstract

Ultra dense networks (UDN) can be considered as one of the key technologies of 5G, since it can improve capacity and spectral efficiency. With the densification of cell networks, the signals received by cell edge users may be from more than one cell. In this situation, coordinated multipoints (CoMP) technology can be used to improve the system throughput. Considering the constraints of resource allocation posed by CoMP, a cell load-aware based CoMP (CLACoMP) is proposed. It can balance the cell load by adjusting the number of users serviced by base stations. The simulation results show that, CLA-CoMP can improve system throughput compared with traditional CoMP and non-CoMP.
