Abstract

This paper presents an active receiving phased array operating in K Band for Mobile Satellite Communications. The system integrates novel radiating elements, receiving radio frequency (RF) modules, power distribution networks and beam steering controller with no any RF cables. The array realizes circular polarization signal to communicate with the satellite by waveguide radiating elements loaded FR4 dielectric materials inside. The height of array with 256 (16×16) elements is less than 110mm, and the system can communicate with the satellites by scanning ±60° in two dimensions. The maximal gain loss at large scanning degree is about 4.5dBi. The product is designed for integration in land vehicles and aircrafts.
