Abstract

Aerodynamic characteristics of gun-launched loitering munitions (GLLM) and its shape design are discussed. The aerodynamic characteristics and design method of high-lift low Reynolds number airfoils are analyzed for the folding wing of GLLM, and the basic requirement of 3D wing design and folding mode are considered. Furthermore, the aerodynamic characteristics of inflatable wings and their key technique are introduced. The inflatable wings can be packed into volumes tens of times smaller than their deployed volumes without damage to the structural integrity of the wing, thus removing the complex folding geometries required in conventional unmanned aerial vehicles, thereby achieving significant weight savings. The result showed a promising future for the inflatable wings, and the importance of aerodynamic performance integral design for GLLM.
