Abstract

Polyoxometalates (POMs) have been emerging as one of the most widely-studied interdisciplinary research fields in Inorganic Chemistry due to their unique structural compositions and physicochemical properties, such as welldefined atomic structure, diverse and controllable composition, stable and reversible electrons/protons storage, rich redox properties. This review addresses the research advances of transition-metal-modified {P2W12}-based POMs. These series of compounds have been categorized according to the polymerization number of {P2W12} building block, then the structural characteristics, synthetic strategies, and functional applications of some representative compounds have also been summarized. Finally, the outlook of their future development is prospected.
