Abstract

Hyperbranched polymers had been applied in in many fields due to their unique architecture and properties, especially had rapid progress in the research on modification of resins. The applications of the hyperbranched polymers as modifiers of the thermoplastic resins such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, nylon-6 and thermosetting resins such as epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl ester resin were reviewed. Hyperbranched polymers could be used as processing aids, rheologic modifiers, compatibilizers, reinforcing agents of thermoplastic resins and toughening agents of thermosetting resins. Meanwhile, the prospect of the study directions of the application of hyperbranched polymers in modification of resins was pointed out.
