Abstract
Adsorption of formaldehyde on 5A, ZSM-5, 10X, 13X zeolites were investigated and compared. Results indicated that 10X zeolite had a significant increase in the adsorption capacities and prolongation of breakthrough time upon the removal of formaldehyde. The porous structure parameters of the samples under study were investigated using nitrogen adsorption at a low temperature of 77.4 K. Pore size distribution of the samples under study were calculated by density functional theory. With the aid of these analyses, relationship between the structure and cations on the molecular sieve framework and the adsorption properties of zeolites in removing formaldehyde was revealed. The effect of formaldehyde concentration and the adsorption capacity of 10X zeolite used in adsorption were also studied. The results indicated that a removal rate of 4 mg/m of formaldehyde can reached 90% and can be reused.
