Abstract
In continuation of our ongoing studies to explore efficient and stable solvent systems for CO2 capture, herein a systematic investigation is reported on the absorption-desorption performance, thermal and oxidative degradation of the ternary mixed amine system. Effect of different anti-degradation agents on degradation performance of the system was investigated by investigating absorption and desorption rates. Degradation products and reaction pathways were analyzed via GC-MS technique to show that the ternary system has advantages of fast absorption, high saturated absorption capacity, rapid desorption and complete desorption. Absorption capacity of the system was nearly 7000 mL, while the initial desorption peak rate exceeded 2 mL/s. The absorption-desorption reaction mechanism as well as thermal and oxidative degradation pathways were investigated. By the addition of anti-degradation agent to the mixed solution, thermal and oxidative degradation inhibition was optimal, reducing the thermal degradation rate to 10%. Antioxidant degradation rate decreased by 35% compared to the original system. An excellent mixed amine solution formula with superior comprehensive performance was obtained. The study provided a theoretical basis and technical support for the application of the chosen system in CO2 capture applications.
