Abstract

In this paper, a dual band shared-aperture antenna is proposed. The proposed element is composed of a stacked microstrip antenna and a corner-cut microstrip antenna. The stacked microstrip antenna operates at lower band and a metal cavity is loaded around the antenna to improve the scanning capacity. The corner-cut microstrip antenna operates at higher band and a SIW-cavity is established by the surrounding metallized plated-through holes to obstruct the surface waves and achieve beam steering in a wide-angle coverage. The simulated results show that the proposed array antenna can achieve a ± 70° beam scanning and a ± 60° beam scanning for lower band and higher band respectively.
