A view-dependent method for generation of large scale terrain

Abstract

An efficient and easy method based on the view-dependent level of detail (LOD) is presented for real-time display of the large scale terrain scene. The view field is divided into vehicle-dependent view field and aircraft-dependent view field, and the corresponding algorithm is proposed. A calling algorithm for the scene sheltered from the high field and an efficient evaluation algorithm for node are also put forward. The results show that this algorithm can greatly reduce grids and increase the display velocity.
