Abstract

Due to the utilization of a sparse MIMO array, through-the-wall radar image often suffers from high azimuth sidelobe, which makes detection in sheltered space difficult. To overcome this challenge, a through-the-wall radar azimuth sidelobe suppression method based on multibit coherence factor is proposed. The imaging phases across different channels are quantized according to the specified quantization bits. Furthermore, the quantized phases are used to generate the weight. Finally, the original radar image is weighted to suppress the azimuth sidelobe. Through numerical simulations and field experiment, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified, and the influence of quantization bits on the proposed method is analyzed.
