Abstract

Sense of agency (SoA) refers to an individual's subjective experience of control over their own actions and the external environment. Depression is often associated with low selfefficacy. Low self-efficacy arises from the individual's perceived lack of control in the decision-making process. This sustained experience of uncontrollable outcomes may exacerbate depressive symptoms by weakening the individual's SoA. However, this mediating path has not yet been confirmed. In human-computer interaction, SoA, as the core perception of the relationship between user behavior and sensory feedback, plays a crucial role in linking user experience with system performance. In this context, to explore the mediation effect of SoA in the relationship between sense of control and depression in the subliminal priming effect, this study adopted the subliminal priming effect experimental paradigm, and combined the SoA scale and the BDI-II scale, delving into the intrinsic relationships among the three. The results indicated that Sense of Negative Agency (SoNA) in SoA is negatively correlated with the sense of control and positively correlated with depression, proving that SoA plays a key role in the relationship between the sense of control and depression.
