Abstract

In this paper, a simple method to generate orbital angular momentum beams is proposed in microwave regime. The fundamental TM11 mode and the higher order TM21, TM31, TM41 modes of an annular micrstrip ring are adopted to generate different OAM states. All the modes are fed by the same signals, where two ports with equal amplitude and 90° phase difference are used. The angle between the two feeding locations is reduced as the mode order increases. The simulation results verify the feasibility of this method. The TM11, TM21, TM31, and TM41 modes of the ring are responsible for the ±1, ±2, ±3, ±4 OAM states, respectively.
