Abstract
Dual-wavelength operation of a room-temperature linear cavity erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) is proposed and demonstrated. With the combination of a fiber polarizer and a section of high birefringence (HiBi) fiber, a Lyot fiber filter is established to work as the wavelength-selective component. By tuning the polarization controller, we experimentally obtained two series of stable L-band dual-wavelength lasers with wavelength spacing of 3.44 and 1.56 nm, respectively. This result is achieved by exploiting intracavity birefringence to enhance polarization hole burning. Meanwhile, five single-wavelength lasers from 1599.28 to 1605.84 nm have been also acquired.
