A pedal-actuated wheelchair with a leg exoskeleton

Abstract

In this paper a new design of a wheelchair is presented with an actuation given by the user's action through a leg exoskeleton linked to the wheelchair. The exoskeleton is designed properly for the wheelchair with a fairly simple operation that can be also planned as exercising for the users. The design is characterized by performance results of dynamic simulations.
