Abstract

A novel magnesoborate, Mg₇at[B₆₉O₁₀₈(OH)₁₈], with a 3D supramolecular framework has been made under solvothermal conditions, and features wonderful snowflake-like channels assembled from unprecedented [B₆₉O₁₀₈(OH)₁₈] clusters. Notably, unique triple-helical ribbons reside in the middle of the B₆₉ cluster. Up to now, the discovery of a B₆₉ cluster sets a new record in cluster sizes among borates.
