Abstract

Aiming at the range tracking for highly maneuvering targets, a new parameter design method is proposed for 3rd-order range tracking loop based on α-β-γ tracker. First, it determines the loop bandwidth according to the least range error criteria, which is used to fit 3rd-order pole of the loop's transfer function under critical damping state. Then, the parameters α, β and γ are calculated according to the 3rd-order pole. The simulation results show that the error between theoretical value and fitted value with 6th-order polynomial is less than 10-4. Finally, the tracking accuracy of 3rd-order range tracking loop is analyzed. Furthermore, a new calculation method of optimal bandwidth according to the least range criteria is proposed.
