Abstract

Monitoring of abnormality in cutting tools and the cutting process is one of the crucial and difficult problems in FMS, CIMS and other technologies related with the automation of manufacturing processes. It has been deeply studied by many. Problems presented in the on-line monitoring of tool state are systematically investigated. A new sensor principle and method for finding out tool state on line is presented. Feasibility and practical applicability of this method has been confirmed by lots of laboratory experiments and actual applications.
