A new design rationale knowledge evaluation method

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

Although there have been numerous design rationale research projects, few of them has received wider adoption. Because current design rationale systems are not demonstrated the value of the approach in practice due to lack of the design rationale knowledge evaluation. In this paper, we present a new design rationale knowledge evaluation method which is to measure the design rationale knowledge comprehensive value. In this method, we also characterizes the design rationale knowledge value from four perspectives, and the method can provide object metric and selection basis for the design rationale knowledge reuse during the product design process. Partial design process of the bending die is taken as an example to verify the feasibility and validity of the proposed method.
