Abstract

This paper presents a wide-band magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna and identifies a new application scenario in biomedical engineering. The proposed antenna is intended for on-body deployment, enabling real-time monitoring when mounted on the human body surface. Experimental investigations indicate that the measured performance remains stable across different mounting locations on the body, exhibiting limited sensitivity to anatomical variations and thus demonstrating high robustness in practical on-body conditions. The antenna occupies a compact volume of 55 mm × 40 mm × 8 mm and operates over a broad frequency range of 0.5-1.5 GHz. Owing to its miniaturized form factor, wide operating bandwidth, and strong robustness against body-location-dependent perturbations, the proposed design is a promising candidate for wearable and epidermal biomedical sensing and monitoring applications.
