Abstract

This paper presents a dual-polarized endfire phased array antenna (PAA) based on tilted-beam elements. Each antenna element comprises two mirror-symmetric modules to generate ±45° polarizations, whose normal direction is oriented to the endfire direction. The module contains two dipoles with unequal lengths that are fed by an asymmetric power-splitting and phase-shifting network to achieve forward beam tilting. This feature helps to avoid large grating lobes, even with an element spacing of 0.6λ in the array design. Simulated results show that the proposed 1×6 dual-polarized PAA operating at 6.8 GHz achieves a maximum beam pointing at 72°, a peak gain of 12.3 dBi, a sidelobe level below -12.4 dB, and a cross-polarization level 15 dB lower than the co-polarized main lobe in the endfire direction.
