Abstract

A lens array based on partial Maxwell fish-eye (PMFE) lens is proposed in this paper. The lens array is designed as a staggered up and down structure in the y-direction to keep the unit spacing at 2λ0 (λ0 is the wavelength in free space) for low sidelobe levels (SLLs). Each PMFE lens is fed by the WR28 standard rectangular waveguide placed on a straight line, which is 0.45Ru (Ru is the radius of the PMFE lens) from the center of the PMFE lens. The lens array combines mechanical presetting and phased scanning to achieve the wide beam coverage range (BCR). The simulated results show that the continuous beam scanning angle of ±65° and the 3dB BCR of ±71.4° are achieved. The antenna gain is in the range of 17.4 ∼ 21.3 dBi.
