Abstract

In this paper,A concatenating coding scheme is proposed for satellite communication,which employs inner trellis code and RS outer codes.The inner code is a rate 5/6 4-dimensional 8PSK trellis code based on Viterbi's pragmatic coding idea. The outer code are RS(255,239) and NASA standard RS(255,223) code, respectively.Its performance is evaluated by analytical method and computer simulations under ideal linear AWGN channel.The complexity and the performance of the considered coding scheme are compared with the same rate optimal four dimensional trellis code and punctured.
